This is the fifth painting in the series "Cosmic Connections".

The inspiration behind this series is the patterns found in nature. Recognition of patterns and shapes can profoundly affect how we see ourselves in relation to each other and the world in which we live, to embrace ideas that unite us, not divide us. In observing connections, we can establish associations that lead to kinship and the possibility of peace.

 With the number four comes solidarity and stability. The stable square as represented by this blossom of a Dogwood tree represents the solid nature of the earth. The number four represents a solid foundation and the desire for security and safety. Residing in the square is the cross made by drawing lines from corner to corner or from side to side. It symbolises relationship and integration.
