Over the past few months, I have had the most rewarding pleasure of working with artist Rashmi Ghosh. During our enlightening, bi-weekly discussions on-line, I have witnessed an artist take a seed idea and grow it into what might well become her life’s work as an artist and keeper of history. Her dedication and commitment to learning is what makes working with Rashmi such a pleasure and in turn, her education becomes an education for future generations. At first glance, the new, geometric stepwell paintings created by Rashmi Ghosh might have a certain decorative element to them, but look closely, ask the questions and venture into each work and you’ll witness for yourself an incredible history and storytelling Rashmi is reminding us of. A reminder we must heed today before we lose these important structures to our rapidly changing world.

Today, in many parts of our world, water catchments are going dry, while others are flooding to capacity, but water, whether we have it in abundance or not, must be protected and preserved, cared for spiritually so that the elixir of life itself, keeps all life, alive, generation to generation.

There are few artists today whom, through the creation in their visual work provide us a visual serenity, while quietly reminding us of our fragility here on earth, and how we must be conscious and protective of all elements, past, present and future. Rashmi Ghosh is one of these artists we must listen to through her message and magnificent art.
