Stepwell

During my exploration of Hampi’s ruins in Karnataka, I discovered the stepwells known as Pushkarani, part of a UNESCO site. Their striking design led me to study similar wells across India, from Delhi to Rajasthan and Gujarat. These stepped reservoirs combine utility with beauty, revealing precise geometry and harmony with nature. Often richly carved, they reflect the art of their time while sharing a consistent structural logic. Inspired by their form, I began creating paintings that capture their essence, using materials like jute fibers to echo the organic, fractal like patterns within them
