The artwork portrays the Kalpavraksha, also known as the Tree of Life, drawing parallels to the architectural layout of certain stepwells in Gujarat. Indian mythology speaks of 'lands of enjoyment' or kalpas, mythical realms where desires are fulfilled. One such paradise, known as the 'island of the rose apple tree', encompasses India along with its mountains and rivers. Streams originating from the northern land flow through chasms to converge on the other side of the mountain. This depiction resonates with the envisioned structure of Hindu stepwells, such as the Vav at Ambapur, near Adalaj, Gujarat. The intricate intertwining of mythological symbolism and architectural design highlights the profound cultural connections embedded within India's artistic heritage, inviting viewers to explore the mystical realms of mythology and architecture intertwined within the artwork.
