Kathputli, the string puppet, native to Rajasthan is the most popular form of Indian puppetry. Kathputli means a puppet which is made entirely from wood and also from cotton cloth and metal wire. This is controlled by a single string that passes from the top of the puppet over the puppeteers. This art is more than thousand years old however it is dying due to unbanization and loss of patronage. My painting tries to show that we need to revive this beautiful art form as this has made India one of the first countries to invent its traditional puppetry.
