Workshop Overview Duration: Full Day (11:00 AM – 5:00 PM) Audience: Experienced artists / advanced learners Materials: Not included (participants must bring their own) Includes: Intensive guided instruction + refreshments during break Objective: This masterclass is designed to deepen anatomical understanding of the human face and elevate charcoal portraiture skills, focusing on structure, proportion, tonal modelling, and expressive realism. 2. Learning Outcomes Participants will: Analyze and construct the underlying structure of the human face Apply accurate proportions and anatomical landmarks Master tonal modeling to create realistic volume Control edges and transitions for lifelike rendering Produce a refined, high-quality charcoal portrait 3. Materials Required (Participants must bring) Core Materials: Professional charcoal (vine, compressed, charcoal pencils) High-quality drawing paper (A2 or A3, textured, heavyweight) Sketchbook (for structural studies and thumbnails) Tools: Kneaded eraser + precision eraser Blending tools (stumps, brushes, cloth, chamois) Soft brushes (for charcoal dust work) Craft knife / sandpaper (for sharpening) HB pencil (for initial construction) Masking tape / clips Optional (Recommended): Workable + final fixative spray Easel or drawing board Reference images (high-resolution portraits)
